Follow Your Heart, They Say
If we’re supposed to trust and follow our heart, why is it one of the most difficult things to do?
We have been taught from such a young age to think logically. Be realistic. Cover the facts.
Your heart isn’t always going to tell you things you want to hear.
Limitations and fears are non-existent in that space, so your heart voice is going to sound a bit “out there” and illogical when it gets filtered through your mind.
The more you listen to your heart, the stronger your fear voice will become.
Tony Robbin’s explains this perfectly in his book “Awaken The Giant Within”, and I would love to share this with you:
“There is a single driving force behind all human behaviour. Everything you and I do, we do either out of our need to avoid pain or our desire to gain pleasure.”
When you feel the pull inward, it feels right. But it will also bring up a lot of resistance.. It can keep you paralyzed, and unable to make a decision.
At some level you believe that taking action in this moment would be more painful than just putting it off. Have you ever had the experience of putting something off for so long that suddenly you felt pressure to just do it, to get it done? What happened? You changed what you linked pain and pleasure to. Suddenly, not taking action became more painful than putting it off.
On a deeper level, you already know what you need to do.
Give yourself permission to listen and see what it has to say.
It might just lead you in the right direction..
