My Favorite Apps For Self Care & Wellness

Below you will find a list of apps I like to use regularly that support my wellness & self-care practices. Of course, it’s also important to unplug from your phone when it comes to taking care of yourself, but a focus on technology is utilizing it in a way that empowers and supports you to live your best life.

Here are a few of my personal favorites that I hope may help you too:

Insight Timer (Meditation)

I’ve been using this app to meditate for years! You can utilize a timer with or without background noise, and it even comes with a meditation bell to end your session. If you prefer guided meditations, there are thousands in the library of all styles & durations. They also have courses, sleep meditations and music. Another thing I love about this app is you can meditate alongside friends, and see a world map of all the people currently meditating. Find and follow me by searching “Jen Traxel”, I have two guided meditations I have created and uploaded for you to try.

Day One (Journaling)

I love having this journal with me everywhere I go so I can add thoughts, voice memos, photos or memories. You can choose to have several different color coded journals, and literally add any type of files to each entry. I love looking back on the previous years memories as they come up in the “On This Day” section. The app can also document your location of entries, weather, time etc.

Hormone Horoscope (Cycle Tracking)

Another awesome app to track your cycle and check into where your hormones are at and how your body, emotions and energy may be depending on the day or week. It really helps me to plan my schedule and be aware of when my body needs more rest vs when I will have the most energy. If I am feeling down or off, it’s nice to check in a see how your hormone levels increasing and decreasing at specific times can really have an affect. I have learnt so much through this app about my body, and awareness around each week of my cycle.

Aaptiv (Fitness/Yoga)

Another app i’ve been using for years. This really changed the game for me when it comes to cardio. You literally put your headphones on and you have a coach that talks you through your entire workout whether it be running (indoors/outdoors), strength training, stretching, meditation, pilates etc. There are a ton of different types of workouts, programs and challenges to keep you inspired.

The Moon (Phases)

If you love staying connected to the different cycle of the moon, then you’ll love the visuals of this app. Simply open to see which phase the moon is currently in along with the days on the calendar of the full & new moon for your monthly rituals.

Strava (Running, Walking & Trails)

I love this app for staying connected to friends and the community through physical activity. You can cheer others on, join challenges, find new trails and paths to explore in your area and set goals for monthly activity time. I sync this with my Fitbit to get more in-depth stats of my activity. Follow me at Jen Traxel and i’ll follow you back so we can cheer each other on!

LOA Toolbox (Law Of Attraction)

If you’re wanting to learn more about the law of attraction, this app has so many cool games and exercises to experiment with including appreciation games, “feel as if”, receive and spend, gratitude etc. Great app to utilize daily to strengthen your LOA muscles!

Photos (Present Moment)

Open up your photo app and start experimenting with photography and taking videos. It’s amazing how creative you can get with all the editing functions. I love taking photos and strive to do this daily to capture mindful moments and memories.

Spotify (Music & Podcasts)

Powerhouse of an app for music, podcasts and following playlists. You can find me at “Jen Trax” and follow some of my yoga & gym playlists if you’re looking for inspiration!

Please note that these are only my personal recommendations. I also use an iPhone and not sure if these are available on other types of devices.

I’d love to hear if you have any apps that support your own daily self-care practices. Please share below!
